Call for proposals, for a new series from Amsterdam University Press: A forum for innovative research on the role of images and objects in the late medieval and early modern periods, VISUAL AND MATERIAL CULTURE, 1300-1700 publishes monographs and essay collections that combine rigorous investigation with critical inquiry to present new narratives on a wide range of topics, from traditional arts to seemingly ordinary things.

East of Byzantium is a new partnership between the Arthur H. Dadian and Ara Oztemel Chair of Armenian Art at Tufts University and the Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture at Hellenic College Holy Cross in Brookline, MA, that explores the cultures of the eastern frontier of the Byzantine empire in the late antique and medieval periods.

The Kress Foundation Department of Art History at the University of Kansas seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor specializing in the history of early modern visual arts in Italy with strengths between 1300 and 1700.

The ICMA is proud to present the keynote lecture by Achim Timmerman (University of Michigan), “Fleeting Glimpses of Eschaton: Scalar Travels in the History of Medieval Microarchitecture,” on April 1st at the 36th annual Canadian Conference of Medieval Art Historians. 

Papers of approximately 20 minutes in any of the fields related to Byzantine, Ottoman and Modern Greek Studies are welcome. DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: 8 APRIL 2016. We are happy to announce the upcoming interdisciplinary conference on medieval legal history and invite colleagues whose research touches upon aspects of law and ritual in the Middle Ages to submit proposals for papers of 20 minutes’ duration. 

Deadline for application: March 31st, 2016. This ambitious international project collaborates with the main European and American libraries. Its aim is to lay the foundations for a scientific approach of medieval manuscript fragments by using the most advanced technologies.

The International Center of Medieval Art (ICMA) seeks proposals for sessions to be held under the organization’s sponsorship in 2017 at the 4th Forum Medieval Art, which will take place in Berlin. Intended as an open colloquium occurring biannually at rotating sites and organized by the Deutsche Verein für Kunstwissenschaft e.V, the Forum seeks to bring together research and researchers on different fields, regions and periods and to serve—as its name suggests—as a forum for ideas pertaining to the study of medieval art.

The International Center of Medieval Art (ICMA) seeks proposals for Stahl and Forsyth Lectures to be held under the sponsorship of the organization in 2016-2017. As a reminder, Stahl Lectures are to be held in what might be termed the greater southwest, while Forsyth lectures, as a rule, take place in the institutions located east of the Mississippi River, especially in what might be termed the greater Midwest.

Session organizers and speakers must be ICMA members. Proposals must include a session abstract and a CV of the organizer(s), all in one single Doc or PDF with the organizer’s name in the title.
