A NYC production company is now casting historians and archaeologists who specialize in the Medieval period- especially castles- to be on-air for a new TV series.

This panel will place such activities at the center of investigation, seeking to address diverse issues related to function, access and audience. How precisely were the church’s main and sub-spaces used for these events?

For its 13th Annual Symposium to be held in Paris, the International Medieval Society invites abstracts on the theme of Words in the Middle Ages. The digital humanities, while altering the landscape of Medieval Studies as a whole, have most importantly overhauled the concept, appearance, and analysis of words and texts.

The 2015 summer school will comprise two separate courses, each worth 6 ECTS credits, transferable to 3 semester hours/credits in the North American system.

The $10,000 award for female medievalists is to be used during the period of June 1–December 31, 2016. 

North Carolina State University is pleased to announce that it will be participating in the Council on Library and Information Resource's Postdoctoral Fellowship in Data Curation for Medieval Studies program, under which we will be hiring a fellow for the 2016-18 academic years.

The 36th annual Canadian Conference of Medieval Art Historians will be hosted by l’Université Laval (Québec, QC) on 1-2 April 2016. The organization welcomes those interested in medieval art and architecture from around the country (and beyond).

Thanks to a generous grant from the Kress Foundation, funds may be available to defray travel costs of sponsored session speakers. 

The Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies is offering post-doctoral Fellowships to be used for research at the Institute in the medieval field of the holder's choice. The Mellon Fellowships are intended for young medievalists of exceptional promise who have completed their doctoral work within the previous five years, including those who are starting their professional academic careers. 

Including the “Agincourt carol,” music written for the coronations of the Lancaster House, and music written by Henry V himself for John of Bridlington (the last Englishman to be canonized before the Reformation), the program portrays a nuanced picture of Henry V and 15c England politically, dynastically, and religiously. 

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Art History with an emphasis in European medieval art at the time of appointment, and a strong record of excellence in research and teaching in the discipline. A secondary specialization in Islamic art of the Mediterranean world (8th-12th c.) is highly desired. Additional museum, archaeology, cultural preservation or architectural history experience is preferred, but not required. 

The Department of Fine Arts at the University of Hong Kong is looking for an art historian specialising in Medieval or Renaissance art.

Keynote speakers will include Brigitte Bedos-Rezak, David Crouch, Sandy Heslop and Adrian Ailes. Themed sessions will include images and cultural history, politics, power and people, and ownership, authority and function. Speakers will include Simon Keynes, Nicholas Vincent, John Cherry, Martin Henig, Jessica Berenbeim, Ambre Vilain and Annabel Gallop.

The sixth Lincoln College International Summer School in Greek Palaeography will be held on 1-6 August 2016. The school offers a five-day introduction to the study of Greek manuscripts through ten reading classes, four library visits and five thematic lectures.

Almost one hundred (100) early-career scholars have been supported by our postdoctoral fellowships since the inception of this program in academic year 1992-93.  The overwhelming majority of our postdoctoral fellows have gone on to successful academic careers around the world.  

Proposals should address the material aspects of late antique, medieval, or Renaissance manuscripts. Papers are twenty minutes in length and a full session normally consists of three papers. Submissions of papers may address an original topic or one of the session themes already proposed. Submissions of original session themes are welcome from those who wish to be organizers.
