The organizers of the annual New England Medieval Conference, to be hosted by Dart­mouth College on November 19, 2016, invite papers that address the 2016 theme "Lives and Afterlives in the Middle Ages."

On 26 and 27 January 2017, the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society will be hosting an international graduate conference entitled ‘Landscape: Interpretations, Relations, and Representations’. 

The ICMA invites submissions for the annual prize for the best single-authored book on any topic in medieval art. Books that will be considered need to be printed in 2015. No special issues of journals or anthologies or exhibition catalogues can be considered. Deadline 31 May 2016

There is a new training course organized by the Ecole nationale des chartes on the medieval illumination, 20-22 June.

As part of its ongoing commitment to Byzantine studies, the Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture seeks proposals for a Mary Jaharis Center sponsored session at the 52nd International Congress on Medieval Studies, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, May 11–14, 2017. Session proposals must be submitted through the Mary Jaharis Center website. The deadline for submission is April 25, 2016.

East of Byzantium is a new partnership between the Arthur H. Dadian and Ara Oztemel Chair of Armenian Art at Tufts University and the Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture at Hellenic College Holy Cross in Brookline, MA, that explores the cultures of the eastern frontier of the Byzantine empire in the late antique and medieval periods.

Date Due: Rolling (all annual funds will be distributed by August 31, 2016). The American Research Institute of the South Caucasus invites proposals from collaborative teams in support of the preservation and conservation of the Republic of Armenia’s archaeological and historical heritage. This ARISC program, generously funded by Project Discovery! and private donations, seeks to foster joint work between American and Armenian scholars and institutions dedicated to the proper curation and preservation of heritage materials such as artifacts, sites, and manuscripts.

Call for proposals, for a new series from Amsterdam University Press: A forum for innovative research on the role of images and objects in the late medieval and early modern periods, VISUAL AND MATERIAL CULTURE, 1300-1700 publishes monographs and essay collections that combine rigorous investigation with critical inquiry to present new narratives on a wide range of topics, from traditional arts to seemingly ordinary things.

The ICMA is proud to present the keynote lecture by Achim Timmerman (University of Michigan), “Fleeting Glimpses of Eschaton: Scalar Travels in the History of Medieval Microarchitecture,” on April 1st at the 36th annual Canadian Conference of Medieval Art Historians. 

Papers of approximately 20 minutes in any of the fields related to Byzantine, Ottoman and Modern Greek Studies are welcome.
